Rafting Accident – Pueblo Personal Injury Attorney

The Denver Post is reporting that a 20-year-old man has died while rafting on the Piedra River in Archuleta County. Sheriff’s officials say that Robert Reiter, of Gypsum, was training to be a river guide when he fell off his raft and became stuck under a submerged log. Reiter was among seventeen other trainees on a familiarization trip. The accident occurred in Second Box Canyon, an area that is inaccessible by foot.  Archuleta County search-and-rescue recovered the body on Sunday.

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, in 2008 there were 4,789 recreational boating accidents in the United States. Of the 4,789 accidents, there were a total of 619 fatalities and 2,739 injuries.
