According to the Pueblo Chieftain, Evraz Rocky Mountain Steel’s plant in Pueblo, Colorado has been cited by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for hazardous working conditions. OSHA uncovered violations for machines that were capable of amputation due to their rotating parts. Evraz was cited for a similar hazard in July of 09’ and this violation is especially serious due to the potential for serious injury or death. In addition to this violation, Evraz had a series of violations including:
- Failing to implement a lockout for energy sources
- Inadequate belt guards
- Inadequate pulley guards
- Improper storage of flammable materials
- Failure to protect workers from electrical hazards
